Refresh Time, also known as cache time, sets how often a field gets a new value. A field that updates less often saves battery.
Open the field in Data, then choose Data Options → Refresh Time. Every field has this option.
| Choice | The field updates |
|---|---|
| Always on | MIP watches only. Every second, also in low power mode |
| 1 sec to 2 hours | After that time has passed since its last update |
| Every Minute at 0 | When the minute changes, so a time stays exactly right |
| Every hour at 0 | When the hour changes |
| Once per day (midnight) | At midnight |
60 sec and Every Minute at 0 aren't the same. With 60 sec, a time can run up to a minute behind. For anything that shows a time, use Every Minute at 0.
Always on only works on MIP watches. The field updates every second, also in low power mode. If you select it for more than one field, they take turns. Always on affects your battery, so only use it where you need it.
Every field starts with a time that suits its data, so you only need to change this if you want to. Some examples:
| Field | Standard |
|---|---|
| Heart Rate | 5 sec |
| Steps | 15 sec |
| Battery | 5 min |
| Garmin Weather | 15 min |
| World / Alt Time, Countdown | Every Minute at 0 |
| Date | Once per day (midnight) |
Choose Refresh all data in the main settings menu to update every field right away. This also helps if you just installed a plugin. With PRO, you can also set Refresh Data as a touch shortcut.
