Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 21, 2026

GreenBlack's WatchFaces ("we", "us", "our") provides WatchFaces for Garmin wearable devices through this website (watchface.io) and through the Garmin Connect IQ Store. This Privacy Policy explains what data is processed when you use our website and our WatchFaces, and sets out the terms for using our WatchFaces. It is written to comply with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the EU ePrivacy rules.

1. Summary

  • Our WatchFaces run entirely on your Garmin device. They do not collect, transmit, store, or share any personal data, health data, or usage data.
  • Any data a WatchFace displays (time, heart rate, steps, battery level, etc.) is read from the Garmin device's own APIs and stays on the device. It is never sent to us or to any third party.
  • Our WatchFaces contain no advertising SDKs, analytics SDKs, or trackers.
  • This website uses minimal, privacy-respecting analytics and processes limited data needed to deliver purchases and unlock codes (see below).

2. Data processed by our WatchFaces

Our WatchFaces are Garmin Connect IQ applications that run locally on your watch. To display information such as time, date, weather, heart rate, step count, or battery status, a WatchFace reads this data directly from the Garmin device's built-in sensors and system APIs.

This data:

  • stays on your device at all times;
  • is never transmitted to our servers or to any third party;
  • is never stored, logged, sold, or shared in any way;
  • is not used for advertising, profiling, or analytics of any kind.

Some WatchFaces may offer optional features (for example, displaying weather information) that rely on data Garmin Connect itself retrieves via your phone's connection. In those cases, Garmin's own privacy policy governs that data exchange. Our WatchFace only reads and displays the result on your device; it does not intercept, store, or forward that data.

3. Data processed on this website

When you visit watchface.io or purchase/unlock a WatchFace, limited data may be processed:

  • Website analytics. We use a privacy-focused, cookie-free analytics tool (Umami) to understand aggregate visitor numbers and page views. It does not use cookies, does not fingerprint individual visitors, and does not share data with third parties or ad networks.
  • Purchases and unlock codes. If you purchase a WatchFace, our payment providers (such as Stripe or PayPal) process your payment details directly. We do not store your card details. Unlock codes are tied to your email address, which we store in order to issue, validate, and re-send your unlock code if needed.
  • Email. If you contact us or request an unlock code by email, we use your email address only to respond to you and to deliver your unlock code. We do not add you to marketing lists without your consent.
  • Server logs. Like most websites, our hosting provider may temporarily log technical information (such as IP address and browser type) for security and operational purposes. These logs are not used for tracking or profiling and are kept only as long as necessary.

4. Legal basis for processing (GDPR)

Where personal data is processed, we rely on the following legal bases under Article 6 GDPR:

  • Performance of a contract: to process your purchase and deliver your unlock code.
  • Legitimate interest: for aggregate, non-identifying website analytics and for keeping the service secure.
  • Consent: for any optional communication, such as responding to a support request you initiated.

5. Your rights under GDPR

If you are in the European Economic Area, you have the right to:

  • access the personal data we hold about you;
  • request correction of inaccurate data;
  • request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten");
  • object to or restrict processing;
  • request a copy of your data in a portable format;
  • lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at greenblack@outlookwatchface.io. We will respond within one month, as required by the GDPR.

6. Data retention

We retain purchase and unlock-code records only for as long as necessary to provide support, comply with tax and accounting obligations, and resolve disputes. We do not retain data longer than needed for these purposes.

7. Third parties

We work with a small number of third-party services strictly to operate this website and deliver purchases:

  • Payment processors (e.g. Stripe, PayPal) to handle transactions securely;
  • Our hosting provider, to serve this website;
  • Garmin, Inc., through the Connect IQ Store, for distributing WatchFaces.

None of these third parties receive any data from the WatchFace software itself. We do not sell or share your personal data with advertisers, data brokers, or any other third party.

8. Children's privacy

Our website and WatchFaces are not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

9. License to use

When you install one of our WatchFaces, whether free or paid, you are granted a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use that WatchFace on Garmin devices you own, for personal, non-commercial use. Purchasing a WatchFace or obtaining an unlock code grants a license to use the software. It does not transfer ownership or any intellectual property rights.

10. Restrictions

You may not:

  • copy, decompile, reverse-engineer, or modify any WatchFace, except where allowed by applicable law;
  • redistribute, resell, sublicense, rent, or share unlock codes or paid WatchFace files with others;
  • remove or alter any copyright, trademark, or attribution notices;
  • use a WatchFace or its assets (artwork, design, branding) to create a derivative product for distribution.

11. Unlock codes and purchases

Unlock codes are tied to the email address you provide at the time of purchase. Keep your unlock codes private. We are not responsible for misuse resulting from codes you share with others. Refunds, where applicable, are handled in accordance with the policies of the store through which you purchased (e.g. the Garmin Connect IQ Store) or, for direct purchases, within a reasonable period after purchase if the WatchFace is defective or not as described.

12. No warranty / limitation of liability

WatchFaces are provided "as is". While we aim for high quality and compatibility, we do not guarantee that every WatchFace will be free of bugs or fully compatible with every Garmin device or firmware version. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the use of our WatchFaces, including impacts on battery life or device performance. Nothing in these terms limits any statutory consumer rights you may have under EU or local law.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy and these usage terms from time to time, for example to reflect changes in the law or in our services. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates when it was last revised. Continued use of our WatchFaces or website after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

14. Contact
